Plans are well under way for this years Annual Town Gala.
The Parade will start from St Wilfrid’s School at 11am headed by the Parade Marshall, The Pennine Jazz Parade Band with the Mayor Councillor Maureen Tennant-King, the Gala Queen 2014 Miss Brodie Westwood, Gala Queen 2015 Miss Freya Brenton in the lead car. Civic Dignitaries from surrounding towns and Town Councillors with collection buckets for the Mayor’s Charity Alzheimer’s Society. The Parade will include 2nd Featherstone Guides, 3rd Featherstone Beaver Scout Colony, Girnhill Infants School, Featherstone Colliery AFC, Featherstone Rovers Foundation, New Sharlston AFC, Tom’s Club, Featherstone District Lions Club and Stilt Walkers.
There are many fun events taking place at the park throughout the day such as school sports, funfair, zorbs, segways, pedal carts and donkey rides. If your child would like to enter the fancy dress the theme is American Independence Day and please register your child at the Council tent. Judging of the competition will be at approx. 12.45pm. There is also be the balloon race again this year and tickets are available to purchase on the day.
