Town Council Info

Featherstone Town Council holds a number of events throughout the year and is always trying to find ways to improve the Town.

The Council usually meets on the second Wednesday of each month. The meetings commence at 7.00pm and are held in the Community Centre in Station Lane.

The Council organises the Annual Town Gala, which brings the whole community coming together to enjoy this tremendous event. If you would like more information on the Gala then please visit the web page.

The Annual Swimming Gala takes place at Featherstone Sports Complex, where All Saints School, North Featherstone Junior School, St Thomas and Streethouse School compete in many swimming races with a presentation of the trophies and medals in the Sports Hall.

For something a bit different we also hold Tea Dances throughout the year at Featherstone Library/Community Centre. These are very popular and are a great excuse to get you out of the house for a couple of hours to enjoy some dancing and bingo. Refreshments are included in the price of a ticket so look out for the posters and keep an eye on the website for the next one.

The Council also prepares a range of Christmas Events which include the Christmas Lights Switch-On, Santa Day, Colouring competition for the young ones, Best Dressed Window Display and a Civic Carol Service. Once again these events are attended and enjoyed by many residents so come along and enjoy the great atmosphere that these events bring.

The council is always looking at ways to build on its events and it invites you the residents of the Town to bring forward any ideas and/or suggestions which will be considered.

With the economic times we live in the council continue to support the Citizens Advice Bureau which continue to hold regular advice surgeries on Tuesday’s 10.00 – 1.00pm in The Old Town Hall. (No appointment is necessary.)
