Christmas Lights Switch on 2021

What a fantastic night for the Featherstone Christmas Lights Switch on 2021. We would like to thank everyone who attended.

Here are a few pictures of our 1st and 3rd place winners from the Christmas Lights Switch on Poster Competition, switching the lights on alongside the Mayor of Featherstone Councillor Clive Tennant as well as some pictures from our Christmas parade.

In relation to this event you may have noticed that currently there are no solar Christmas trees on the lamp posts. Each year before anything is attached to the street lights they have to go through testing to ensure they are safe enough to carry the extra weight. This testing is carried out by AMEY. The list for the locations was compiled and sent for testing in August. Unfortunately we only received the results of the testing on Friday 19th November. It is with great disappointment that we have to announce that a number of lamp posts have failed the test and on these particular posts we will be unable to place any Christmas decoration. This may also have an impact on the hanging baskets. There are a number of locations affected including Streethouse, Willow Lane and Wakefield Road. We are deeply sorry that we cannot place anything for this year but we will be looking into alternatives for 2022. Unfortunately due to the delay in receiving the results the solar trees will not be in place until 28th November.Once again we apologise for this but these are circumstances out of our control.
