Each year Featherstone Town Council hold the Town’s Annual Gala. This usually takes place on the first Saturday in July (weather permitting).
Each year we have the parade, which starts from St Wilfrid’s High School and walks the 2.2 miles to Purston Park. At the park there are many events which take place throughout the day. In previous years there has been wrestling, Jazz Bands, Live bands and so much more.
We also hold the school sports with children from the local junior & infants school. Each child that competes in the race are presented with a certificate to congratulate them for taking part.
There is also a fancy dress competition in which the Mayor of Featherstone has the hard task of judging. Prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in 3 categories.
At the park there are many tables from local charities and community groups who raise much needed funds. There are tombola tables, games, raffles and many other activities that take place until around 5pm.
The event is well attended and sees many of the residents of the Town and surrounding area come out to enjoy the day.
